Soundrroundings

Sound art has had a long history, from its slightly problematic beginnings in the futurist movement with Luigi Russolo to its contemporary multimedia interpretation in the XXI century. Unlike music, sound art does not seek to create a stable, harmonic composition with a rhythm and melody, sound art is more concerned with the EXPERIENCE of sound, collecting interesting sounds, documenting the aural topography of a space, the active act of listening or experimenting with its qualities.

In this exhibition you can find artworks that experiment with how our environment is sound, be them biological, technological or even metaphorical. Each piece explores a different way to interpret the world through sound. It is our hope that these works inspire you to listen to your surroundings in a new way and perhaps even make something yourself.
